Job Description

 The University of Mary invites applications for a faculty position in Communication beginning to teach Fall 2019. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and rank. A Ph.D./ABD in Communication Studies or related fields is required by time of employment. Candidates will teach courses in speech, writing (technical, journalistic, and other various media), communication theory, as well as their areas of specialization.

The University of Mary Communication Major offers students a strong liberal arts base and the choice of concentration: Business Communication, Public Relations, or Media Production.

Applicants should also excel in teaching at the undergraduate level and be able to teach broadly among the multiple disciplines. All faculty are expected to demonstrate a willingness to support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission and identity of the University of Mary (see www.umary.edu/about/mission/missionidentity.php).

Qualifications and Requirements Include:
• A Ph.D. is required by the time of employment
• Must be able to teach courses in speech, writing (technical, journalistic, and other various media), communication theory, as well as their areas of specialization.
• Willing to upholds and support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
• Willing to support the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
• Willing to build a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Academic Affairs and throughout the university in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
